Online Dental Hygiene Management/Education
We are happy to announce the offering of a fully online Bachelor of Science Degree completion option in Dental Hygiene Management/Education, designed specifically for the working dental hygiene professional with an associate degree.
This specialization is designed to allow dental hygienists with an associate degree the opportunity to study educational theories, philosophies, styles, and techniques. The student will be introduced to management concepts as they related to health care. The primary focus of the education and management specialization is to allow students who wish to enter either dental hygiene education or management the opportunity to learn and develop the skills necessary for success in these two environments. Thirty-one credit hours of management/education coursework are required as well as the general education and senior institution requirements for the university. A total of 120 credit hours are required for the baccalaureate degree.
Eligibility and Admission
Any dental hygiene professional that holds a credential in the field is eligible to apply. There is no limit to the number of students within this program. Continuous enrollment is allowed for the Management/Education specialization. This means students may start the program in any semester.
A dental hygiene credential is required to be eligible for the Online Dental Hygiene program.

- Have an official copy of your transcripts sent to SIU.
- Contact our Financial Aid office at (618) 453-4334.
Then, you should:
- Send a copy (unofficial) of your transcripts to your Academic Advisor.
- Make sure that all of your grades from all other colleges are sent to SIU.

Curriculum and Courses
The Dental Hygiene Online Degree specialization requires thirty-one credit hours including these Dental Hygienist online courses; however, 120 credit hours are required for the Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene. Part-time enrollment is offered as well as a suggested course sequence.
The Dental Hygiene Management/Education course work is offered 100% online. No relocation or campus residency is required.
