
Degree Requirements
All students take 39 credits of foundational coursework, called the ‘common core’ or ‘counseling core.’ These courses are designed to aid counseling students in building a professional counselor identity by acquiring the knowledge, awareness and skills necessary for ethical and effective practice. Students also take 12 hours of clinical mental health specialty courses or clinical rehabilitaion courses and complete clinical experience hours for a total of 60 credit hours.
